Features of Our Sydney Remote Desktop Packages

Windows 10, 11 or Server Editions

Pick a familiar desktop with Windows 10 or Windows 11, or choose Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022 for multi-user access, server roles and longer support cycles. The edition is selected when you place your order.

Dedicated Australian IPv4

Every package includes one dedicated Australian IPv4 address that belongs to your desktop alone. Websites and services see you as a local Australian user, and nobody else's activity shares your address.

NVMe Storage from 35 to 420 GB

Windows boots quickly and applications open fast on NVMe storage. Smaller packages start at 35 GB for light use, while larger ones reach 420 GB for bigger software, data sets and project files.

1 Gbps Shared Port in Sydney

Your desktop sits on a 1 Gbps shared data-centre port, so downloads, updates and cloud uploads finish far faster than on most home connections. Monthly transfer ranges from 1,000 GB up to 10,000 GB.

DDoS Mitigation and Firewall

Network-level DDoS mitigation and firewall filtering protect every package against floods of unwanted traffic, helping your desktop stay reachable. Combine them with strong passwords and Windows Firewall for a well-protected setup.

Always On, Reachable Anywhere

Your Sydney desktop keeps running when you close the connection, so long tasks, trading platforms and scheduled jobs continue without a home PC left switched on. Reconnect from any device and pick up exactly where you left off.

What an Australian RDP Package Actually Is

RDP stands for Remote Desktop Protocol, Microsoft's technology for controlling a Windows computer over a network. An RDP package is a Windows machine in our Sydney data centre that you reach with the Remote Desktop client built into Windows, or the free apps available for macOS, iOS and Android.

When you connect, you see a normal Windows desktop. You can install software, browse the web, open files and run programs. The difference is that all of the work happens in Sydney: the processing, the storage and the internet connection. Your own device only sends keyboard and mouse input and receives screen updates.

This makes RDP different from a VPS in focus rather than technology. A VPS is usually a server you configure to host public services such as websites. An RDP package is designed to be used as a desktop, ready to log in and work, with the convenience of a Windows interface and an Australian IP address.

Choosing Between the Six Sydney RDP Packages

The six packages span US$22.99 to US$258.99 per month, and the plan table lists their exact resources. A few guidelines help you pick:

Light browsing and single applications

If you need an Australian IP for browsing, a single trading terminal or a lightweight office tool, the smaller packages with storage starting at 35 GB and 1,000 GB of monthly transfer are usually enough.

Office work and several programs at once

Running a browser with many tabs, an office suite and messaging tools together calls for a mid-range package. The extra resources and storage of the middle packages keep Windows responsive when several applications are open.

Heavy software, teams and large files

For multiple users on Windows Server, large data sets, development tools or automation that runs all day, the larger packages with up to 420 GB of NVMe and 10,000 GB of transfer give much more headroom.

When in doubt, start one size larger than you think you need. Windows performs noticeably better with spare memory, and it is easier to begin comfortably than to work around a cramped desktop.

Windows 10, Windows 11 or Windows Server for Your Australian Desktop

Your choice of Windows edition shapes how the desktop behaves.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 provide the familiar consumer and business desktop experience. They are a natural fit for a single user who wants the same environment they use at home or in the office. Windows 11 offers the newer interface, while Windows 10 suits software that has not yet been certified for 11.

Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022 are built for server roles and multi-user access. They are the right choice if several people need to log in, if you want to run services such as IIS or SQL Server, or if you prefer the long support lifecycle of server editions. Windows Server 2022 is the most recent of the three and generally the best default for new deployments.

If you are unsure, tell us what software you plan to run in a pre-sales ticket and we will suggest the edition that fits.

Connecting to Your Sydney Remote Desktop

Once your package is ready, you receive the IP address, username and password. Connecting takes only a minute:

  1. On Windows, open Remote Desktop Connection, enter the IP address, and log in with the credentials provided.
  2. On macOS, install Microsoft's Remote Desktop app (Windows App), add a PC using the IP address, and connect.
  3. On iOS or Android, install the official Microsoft remote desktop app and add the connection the same way.

For the smoothest experience, reduce colour depth and disable desktop effects if you are on a slow or mobile connection, and enable clipboard and drive redirection only if you need them. Change the default password immediately after your first login and store it in a password manager.

Because your desktop is in Sydney, connecting from elsewhere in Australia or from New Zealand generally feels responsive. Connecting from further away still works well for most tasks, since only screen updates travel to you.

What a Dedicated Australian IP Lets You Do

Each package comes with one dedicated Australian IPv4 address. Because it is assigned to you alone, its reputation depends only on how you use it, not on the behaviour of other users sharing the same address.

An Australian IP is useful when you need to see websites the way Australian visitors see them, for example to check local search results, review region-specific pricing or test how your own site behaves for local users. It also helps when a service you rely on expects connections from inside Australia.

For businesses, a fixed IP makes security simpler. You can add your RDP address to allow-lists on business systems, databases or admin panels so that sensitive tools are reachable only from your Sydney desktop. Please use the IP responsibly and in line with the terms of the services you access and our acceptable use policy.

Keeping a Windows RDP Desktop in Australia Secure

Remote Desktop is a frequent target for automated password guessing, so a few precautions go a long way. Our network-level DDoS mitigation and firewall reduce floods of hostile traffic, and these steps protect the desktop itself:

  • Use a long, unique password for every account, and never reuse one from another service.
  • Enable account lockout in Local Security Policy so repeated failed logins are blocked.
  • Restrict access by IP in Windows Defender Firewall if you always connect from known addresses.
  • Keep Windows Update on and install security updates promptly.
  • Create separate user accounts for each person instead of sharing the administrator login.
  • Avoid installing unknown software and keep a browser with up-to-date security settings.

Taken together, these habits keep your desktop available and your data safe, and they take only a few minutes to set up on day one.

Trading, Office and Automation Uses for Sydney RDP

People use Australian RDP packages for many different jobs. Some of the most common are:

  • Trading platforms such as MetaTrader or broker terminals that need to stay online and benefit from a stable data-centre connection.
  • Remote office work for staff who travel or work from home but need a consistent Windows environment with an Australian IP.
  • Automation and scheduled tasks that must run continuously, from data collection to report generation.
  • Marketing and search work, including checking how pages and ads appear to Australian users.
  • Software testing on a clean Windows install separate from your main computer.
  • Large downloads and uploads that would take hours on a home connection but finish quickly on a 1 Gbps data-centre port.

Because the desktop runs in a data centre, it does not depend on your home power or internet. If your own connection drops, your programs keep running in Sydney.

Getting the Best Performance from Your Australian RDP

A few simple adjustments keep a remote desktop feeling quick:

  1. Close what you are not using. Background apps and browser tabs consume memory, which is the resource most likely to slow Windows down.
  2. Trim start-up programs. Use Task Manager to stop unnecessary software from launching at login.
  3. Keep storage tidy. Clear temporary files and old downloads so Windows has room for updates. NVMe storage is fast, but a nearly full disk still slows things down.
  4. Tune display settings. Lower resolution and colour depth in the Remote Desktop client when you are on a weak connection.
  5. Watch your transfer. Monthly transfer ranges from 1,000 GB to 10,000 GB depending on the package; heavy downloading may call for a larger package.

If you consistently run out of memory or disk, moving to a larger package is usually more effective than further tuning.

Sydney RDP or Sydney Windows VPS: Which Fits Better

Both products can run Windows in our Sydney Tier III facility, but they are aimed at different jobs.

Choose an RDP package if you want a ready-to-use Windows desktop for yourself or a small team: browsing, trading, office applications, automation and testing. RDP packages come with a dedicated Australian IPv4 and storage sized for desktop use, and start at US$22.99 per month.

Choose a Windows VPS if you want to host public-facing services such as websites, APIs, game servers or databases and need full control over the server configuration. Our Sydney VPS plans add an IPv6 address, run on KVM with NVMe storage and offer ports up to 2 Gbps on larger plans, starting at US$34 per month.

Some customers use both: a VPS to host their application and an RDP desktop to administer it from a fixed Australian IP.

Q & A

Australia RDP FAQ: Questions & Answers

Where is the Australian RDP hosted?

All of our RDP packages run in a Tier III data centre in Sydney, New South Wales. Each desktop connects through a 1 Gbps shared port and has one dedicated Australian IPv4 address. This location gives fast, low-latency access for users across Australia and New Zealand, and a genuine Australian presence for services you use.

How much does an RDP package in Sydney cost?

Our six Sydney RDP packages range from US$22.99 to US$258.99 per month. Resources grow with the price, with NVMe storage from 35 GB to 420 GB and monthly transfer from 1,000 GB to 10,000 GB. The full specifications of each package are shown in the plan table on this page.

Which versions of Windows are available on Australian RDP?

You can choose Windows 10, Windows 11, or Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022. Windows 10 and 11 suit a single user who wants a familiar desktop. Windows Server editions suit multi-user access and server roles such as IIS or SQL Server. Select the edition you prefer when ordering.

Is the IP address on my RDP dedicated to me?

Yes. Every RDP package includes one dedicated Australian IPv4 address used only by your desktop. Its reputation depends only on your activity, and you can add it to allow-lists on your business systems. Please use it responsibly and in line with our acceptable use policy and the terms of services you access.

Can I use a Sydney RDP for trading platforms?

Yes. Many customers run trading platforms such as MetaTrader or broker terminals on our Sydney RDP packages. The desktop stays online around the clock on a data-centre connection, so your platform keeps running even if your own computer is switched off or your home internet drops.

How do I connect to my Australian RDP from a Mac or phone?

Install Microsoft's official remote desktop app on macOS, iOS or Android, add a new PC using the IP address we send you, and log in with your username and password. On Windows, use the built-in Remote Desktop Connection tool. Change your password after the first login for security.

Is DDoS protection included on Sydney RDP packages?

Yes. Every RDP package includes DDoS mitigation and firewall protection at the network level. These help keep your desktop reachable when unwanted traffic is aimed at it. You should still use strong passwords, enable account lockout and keep Windows updated, because network protection cannot replace good security habits.
